During the Fall 2019 and Winter 2020 school year, Abir Abbas, Ryan Gundu, and Hasnain Millwala created a startup called Fyro Inc. Fyro is a food ordering and delivery app that is similar to UberEats and SkiptheDishes however, we catered to Guelph students on the university campus. We noticed that the parking lots on campus are backed with delivery cars, and this inspired the idea for Fyro. The founders wanted to develop a way to optimize food ordering and delivery by pooling orders together, leading to fewer vehicles delivering these orders to key locations on the University of Guelph Campus (Residences, Library, UC, Lecture Halls). Not only was this idea environmentally sustainable, but it allowed students to save money since students wouldn’t have to pay for individual delivery vehicles. The founders also designed the Fyro App in a way where restaurants with high demands of orders would allow students to receive greater discounts. Once the apps (student app, restaurant app, and delivery app) were in development, Aliza Alli was hired as Fyro’s Marketing Manager to create and implement the company’s marketing, branding, and social media strategies.
